Day two with Impulse was all about getting in touch with our senses and feeling inspired. We were asked what our favourite types of smells were and what spices we liked as there was something special Impulse had planned for the afternoon.

Chelsea market is a must see in New York so make sure it’s added to your to do list. We were taken there to visit the fruit district and spice market and gather inspiration on our Polaroids to put together a scent mood board. Afterwards we visited the flower markets where stores and pathways were filled with flowers and plants, perfect for finding some scent inspiration.

One of the worlds leading perfume houses, Givaudan, was our next stop for the afternoon. The room over looked layers of buildings which was the perfect setting to sit down together with Ann Gottlieb and learn all things about fragrances, Impulse Fragrances and Ann herself.

We had the opportunity to ask her anything we liked, share stories with her and get photographs with her.

We were very lucky to get to visit the perfume laboratories where all the magic is created and seeing how it all works. I never knew, let alone really had thought about the time and effort it goes into making these fragrances so it was so amazing to see first hand. After this experience we then got to create our own fragrance, with Ann guiding us on our scent preferences to create the perfect bottle that represented us, vanilla was definitely one of my favourite ingredients and definitely a bottle I will keep as a memory of #MyPerfumeTrip.

The evening had us venturing over to Williamsberg to the Wythe hotel rooftop bar which gave us an extraordinary view of New York City’s skyline. Another must see !
